WHAT’S THE DANGER OF AN ECHO CHAMBER?

Watch the video to understand the damage it can present to your leadership.

No one likes to be “wrong”. No one feels better about themselves when EVERYONE DISAGREES. No one wants to stand out because they think and speak differently from everyone around them.

Whether it’s your accent or your ideology, life is just more comfortable when everyone around you seems to agree. When you’re in a leadership role, you have more power to cause this to happen, even unintentionally and even to your own demise.

Because no one wants to be singled out for thinking differently, we all “mirror” someone in our life. Children mirror parents. Pets in the same household mirror each other. Gang members mirror each other. Politicians, large companies and even solopreneurs can run into this phenomenon.

If you are a leader, you influence people around you, as you should. However, since they tend to mirror you and they want to please you, you are in danger of being surrounded by yourself. If you are not cautious, you will find yourself in an echo chamber.

Watch the video to understand why that is dangerous at any level of leadership.
