She entered the world of dementia 40 plus years ago when her grandmother started to display some pretty bizarre behavior. It turned out she had some form of dementia, which at that time did not have a concrete label yet. She was just a teenager at that time, and over the years as she grew, eight of her family members was diagnosed with dementia.

She discussed the lacking comprehensive understanding of brain diseases, the behaviors that are associated with it, and how to respond to it accordingly. Her book is one of the most needed guidelines to navigating the challenges of having a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. It provides the tools that people need to have a better understanding about the disease that will help everyone grasp what's happening with their loved one and to know how to respond to the different behaviors because even though a person might have dementia, it does not mean that he or she is lost to the world.
