Vania Iscandari, LMSW is an advocate, visionary leader, and mental health professional utilizing healing centered approaches to equity and justice. As a social worker, Vania creatively works at the intersection of macro and clinical practice where she sees her work as transforming minds, communities, and systems for a healthier society.


Vania currently works for the University of Maryland School of Social Work. There she focuses on workforce development, affordable housing, adult education, and mental health. She empowers parents and guardians to take action for the betterment of self, family, and community through a multigenerational lens.


Vania is an avid impact specialist, organizer, and relationship builder. She is the founder of Huemans Healing, a holistic healing collective for black people and people of color. She created this, with the desire to hold space for people in their healing journeys while joining in community with others.


As a way to practice self-preservation and care, Vania enjoys exploring the arts through traveling, cooking, writing, and photography.
