In the newest episode of Illuminate Higher Education, podcast host Kiran Kodithala (CEO of N2N Services) and Diana Chen welcome back Matt Blattman, current senior (4th year student) at the University of Michigan.
The conversation picks up with a continued discussion of the true value of higher education. Kiran discusses how every individual assesses the value of his or her own education in different ways. For some, the ROI is measured on the type of employment or salary achieved upon graduation. For others, the value lies in the social connections - friends, peers, colleagues, and mentors.
Matt sees the value of college as a blend of a number of things. He recognizes how much he has grown during his time at Michigan. In addition to growing his academic knowledge, he considers himself to now be a more mature person overall - better at working, speaking, and communicating.
But he is one person, and his experience differs wildly from his fellow students both at Michigan and students at other universities. Listen to this episode to hear how Matt gleans value from his experience with virtual education and addresses potential challenges that students with other learning styles might face.
