What types of "governors" do you have for your leadership?

When I was a kid, our school bus driver Mrs. Prince told me about the governor on the engine of the school bus that kept it from going too fast. (I remember thinking "there's a person inside there that controls the state?" Hey- I was five). In reality it was there to keep everyone safe.

We have the ability to self-govern and we have the ability to inspire others to more deliberately self-govern. But sometimes in business it’s too much and we don’t live into our potential.

So which governors do you need to ignore? That’s the subject of today’s chat.

My inner 5-year-old hopes that Mrs. Prince hears this and smiles knowing that I still remember her lesson.
