American and Japanese College Students

M: Hey, Emily, let's talk a bit about the differences between American and Japanese college students.

W: Um, actually, I don't think there are that many differences. College students are college students!

M: Oh, I don't know about that. After being here for almost a year I've noticed quite a few differences.

W: Like?

M: How students actually dress NICE here. Everyone in Japan looks so fashionable, whereas every college student in the US wears either pajamas to class or sweatpants and a t-shirt! Do you disagree? Can you tell me that you haven't worn either of those to class?

W: Only on days wh-

M: Hey, have you worn pajamas to class?

W: Ah... yeah... BUT ONLY O-

M: Doesn't matter. You wore pajamas to class!

W: Who cares! What about you?

M: Sweatpants, like... every day! Also other differences include: In America every student basically lives in a dorm their first year. And tuition is 100 times more expensive there... Oh, also, university in Japan is practically a vacation, while American universities are hell. And... we have sororities and fraternities, but THAT's another story!

W: Hey, I didn't like your intonation when you mentioned "Greek life." Why do you make it sound like such a bad thing?

M: Are you really going to argue this with me?

W: Um, yea. I'm in a sorority. And I DO get defensive. People don't actually understand that Greek life has good points, too. Everyone assumes it's exactly like the movies.
