Elle chats with her sister Suzie, about their memories of their Mum and how she continues to influence them in their own lives.
Suzie and Elle are children number 5 & 7 and the only girls so they stick together to inject some feminine energy into the family. They remember an upbringing full of routine and a strong sense of patriarchy, which was just the way it was in the 1950s and 60s. Their Mum was the consumate housekeeper and in Suzie's words, a great 'home' home ec teacher. Every day she welcomed our Dad home with fresh lippy, a gracious smile and dinner ready to serve at our routine dinner time including dessert! Oh how life has changed.

One of the biggest gifts my mum gave me was empathy, she was a great listener and confidante and accepted me for exactly who I was at any particular time inmy life. She was also very generous, loving and always interested in what we were doing.

I miss her terribly but am so grateful that she taught me so much as my Mum.

So to all of you mums listening, have a wonderful Mother's Day. I hope you are loved and cherished everyday but especially on this special day.
