Let’s Talk About Control v Surrender Baby

Hello there gorgeous soul💜

I hope you are feeling well and happy.

This episode is about control v surrender and I think at the basis of it all is faith. Faith for something bigger than us, than our ego, than our heart and than our soul.

In July 2021, freshly out of my marriage, I was feeling stressed and out of control. The ‘plan’ that I had imagined about resolving the end of my marriage was not going to ‘plan’.

So I listened to the audiobook, The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer. It really helped me to calm the f*ck down and relax into life’s flow. Now 16 months later with little progress in the resolution of my marriage, I am revisiting the book this time for a bigger picture reason.

(sidenote: imagine how much stress I would’ve experienced if I hadn’t committed to surrender 16 months ago, given the lack of progress?)

So when I was thinking about control v surrender, it came to me that there is control within the surrender. You can manage your responses and reactions to situations, experiences, people and events, you can surrender to them with awareness, compassion and faith.

And when you do, you invite in calm and peace and say goodbye to control and stress.

In the end, in my experience it helps if you have a belief is something bigger, something that is perfectly ordering the world, this planet that has been hurtling through space unheeded for millions of years. We are a speck on a small clod of dirt revolving around a sun in a galaxy that is one of millions of galaxies. 

Yet we want to control our lives.

Makes me giggle with the ludicrousness of that.
