Henry "Hank" Aaron

My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.

~~ Hank Aaron

I remember Hammerin' Hank Aaron so well. He was playing for the Atlanta Braves when I was a kid. I used to go to the Braves games and watch him play, always hoping to see him hit a home run.

When I was in high school I remember his drive to beat Babe Ruth's Home Run Record! I remember getting a card or piece of paper celebrating his 715th home run and his beating Babe's record. It was a history making day for him and all of Atlanta celebrated.

Hank Aaron went on to hit a lifetime total of 755 Home Runs before retiring in 1976. He finished as one of the most awarded ball player of all time. He has gone in the record books for breaking and holding many baseball records.

But as Hank will tell you, the key was sticking to it. He kept swinging, whether he was having a good day or a bad day. Whether he was on the field or off, he just kept swinging.

We can learn a lot from Hammerin' Hank Aaron. When you get tired, or frustrated, or just don't seem to be able to go on trying to achieve your goals, Keep Swinging!
