What’s life’s like be for an autistic person when they grow older?

Our guest for today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, is Jude Morrow, a Speaker, an Author, and a Social Worker whose advocacy is to bring awareness to autism.

Jude is diagnosed with Asperger Type Autism. And if he’s being honest, he’s experienced the unkindness in this world because of having such condition. So, in this episode, he puts everything into perspective for people like him, their families, and everyone else who just wants to be informed about it.

There should be no need to exclude anyone. People with autism can have a happy family, careers and successful businesses too! Get inspired when you tune in.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

The worst feeling in the world is to be treated as an outcast. This is what living with autism has been like in this society for most, Jude has experienced it first-hand.

Autistic people are different, but they deserve to have a normal life too. If more would learn more about autism, it would be easy for them to adjust to their environment.

Jude is lucky to have found his voice now to bring awareness about autism. He has been using different platforms – books, blogs, speaking events, podcasts, etc. If you feel you know little, then approach experts and/or seek for resources.
Jude believes his strength as a social worker is having a sensible discernment on things presented in front of him. Listen to your emotional heart and your logical mind. It has to be BOTH.
Aside from maintaining a successful and fulfilling career, Jude is also a hands-on parent to his wonderful kid, Ethan. This is something other people don’t believe that can happen. An autistic parent is no different from a normal parent at all. They both can equally provide for the needs of their child.

BEST MOMENTS

“Autism… is not a disease that needs to be cured.”
“I am always good at working with people because I can see things objectively.”
“I just wanted to be anyone else; I just wanted to be part of the gang.”
“My brain only goes at two speeds and it’s in the speed of light which is 186,282 miles per second or ‘stop/sleep’.”
