In today’s episode, I am thrilled to be speaking with Jay Pickens of Diversity on Film and Thrill Company. Jay is a film maker committed to representation and artistic freedom. His commitment to his mission and craft and palpable, and our conversation gave me so much hope about how representation in the arts can not only serve to entertain and engage all who watch, but also to heal and connect.

Jay shares his journey and philosophy about staying true to one’s art, and what diversity means to him (hint: it’s not “no white people” as some people think when they hear the word “diversity”)

The conversation is rich, and his films are really cool. I encourage you to check them out.

Jay’s parting wisdom is not the usual: He says to define what you want to do, and THEN you can create a clear path to it. Get clear about what you want to do, and understand that there are so many tools out there, and there’s always a way to find your way. There’s always a solution to a problem you might encounter.
