Leviticus 25:11&12
As with the Sabbath Day and the Sabbath year (every seven years); the year of Jubilee (the year after 7 Sabbath years) was designed for rest. In this year, there was to be no working the fields (sowing or planting) as they rested in God’s provision and care from the produce that would grow of itself in that year. The land and its people were to rest as a “holy” thing during this year. Peace on earth is the song of the angels who appeared to the shepherds in Luke 2:14. This peace on the land was rest from the striving with sin and God and secured a sabbath rest for us eternally. During this season as we head into a new year, we will encourage the people of Eastview to practice some rest in Jesus.
