For the economic growth and development of any country, engineers play a very key role. Since there is an important link between a country's economic growth and quality of engineering education, engineering institutions across the country have to continuously monitor the future skill requirements of the industry and the country, and make suitable changes to the content in the syllabus and the pedagogy. This aspect would make engineering graduates in the country highly competitive and have the right skills for competing in job markets and in nation building.

Engineers develop new manufacturing processes and products; create and manage energy, transportation and communication systems; address environmental problems; create advanced health care devices and so on. This list is by no means exhaustive. Quality in the engineering education is the development of intellectual skills and knowledge that will equip engineering graduates to contribute to society as innovators and decision makers in the global economy. A high quality engineer can obviously be created only through quality engineering education.

Integrating disciplines in engineering education is an innovative idea. In engineering, to solve problems and provide solutions, it requires integration of different disciplines. As an example, drone technology combines elements of computer science, electronics and mechanical engineering. Engineering disciplines have to reflect this current reality in future. The traditional branches of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering may not exist in future as the way we know them now. Therefore it is essential to introduce multidisciplinary engineering disciplines by technical institutions in the country.
