​Summary: In this marketplace discussion, Colin Gorrie will introduce you to a few of his favourite dead languages, explain how we know anything about languages spoken before the days of the tape recorder, and offer some advice for anyone crazy enough to want to learn one.


​Bio: Colin Gorrie received his Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Arizona in 2014. Since the pandemic started, he has been teaching courses online on a mission to bring linguistics out of the ivory tower.
