The Word of God came to John

We encounter the ministry of John the Baptist in this portion of Luke's gospel as he prepares the way for Jesus Christ. We examine the calling of John in this sermon as we see him as a man sent from God to preach. We hear of our need for plain, direct preaching in the power of the Holy Ghost to cut through the political and ecclesiastical confusion and decline of our time. That preaching must be done by men sent from God, men who preach repentance, and ultimately, men who preach Christ. Just as John did.
