In our psalm of the month, we hear from the most mournful psalm in the Psalter - Psalm 88. We see how sorrow is not contrary to the Christian experience and explore some of the reasons why the Lord might bring sorrows into our souls. But ultimately, we see that to sing this psalm with understanding, is to sing it by recognizing the Messianic dimension in it - as it points to the Man of Sorrows, Jesus Christ.
