Mary Anne Ehlert is a certified financial planner (CFP), and the president and founder of Protected Tomorrows, a company comprising expert advisors dedicated to serving families of individuals with special needs to help them plan for a bright future. She serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Special Olympics of Illinois Foundation and Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. She is also a Partner of Forum Financial Management, serving the financial planning needs of the families. Mary Anne speaks at conferences nationally and locally on planning for families with special needs, and recently authored The Gift I Was Given.
In today’s episode, host Shay Beider welcomes Mary Anne to talk about how she brings security and peace of mind to thousands of individuals with special needs and their families, and how her career was inspired from being a caregiver at a very young age for her sister who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Mary Anne shares the top “need-to-knows” for a family who has a child with special needs, and some of the changes she hopes to see within the system to recognize the value in hiring and educating people of all abilities.
