In this episode of Cheering Past Challenges, I share how I became my mother's caretaker at the age of 21. With my mother's ongoing battle with Schizophrenia, growing up had its own set of challenges. From not having meals to eat at home to not having textbooks for school, living with a Schizophrenic parent was tough.

Despite the many obstacles faced though, my mother has taught me compassion, what it looks like to be a good friend and a good mother. Even now in her later years, I really honor her for where she’s at now.

If you or a loved one is currently battling Schizophrenia, know that you are not alone in this journey. Know that any emotion that you may be feeling right now is completely normal. Despite any diagnosis, remember that you are still a beautiful child of God and that you still have a purpose. My hope is that through honest conversations, comedic moments, and real-life experiences, I can inspire you along the way.
