THE GOOD

Script moves. Compensates for any lack of character building with effective action and winking humor. Practical effects stand test of time. Some gross effects too. Is the movie a commentary on the male gaze? Is the snake an extension of Voight's phallus?

THE BAD

Voight's accent is distractingly bad. Why is everyone surprised there are snakes in the Amazon? CGI effects don't stand test of time. Story provides convenient "outs" whenever the plot needs them.

THE DOWNRIGHT CAMPY

Jon Voight was clearly given free range to be as hammy as possible. He delivers, making the movie as fun as it is.

Cult Classic. A stand out creature feature thanks to the pacing, knowing humor and practical effects. Stands the test of time.
