Welcome aboard the good ship Born Human for episode 3 of these incredible journeys in parenthood. This week we are graced with the presence of Mr Ben Akers. Ben is father to 3 children and is the film maker responsible for the award winning documentary STEVE. Ben lost his childhood best friend to suicide in 2014 and as a result set out to make STEVE with one goal, to save one mans life. That documentary was the foundation stone for the charity he now runs called Talk Club, which is a mental fitness movement helping thousands of men around the globe to look after their mental well being.
In this episode we explore his journey in parenthood, what he's learnt in his quest to change the outlook for mens mental health, the importance of mental fitness, why mental health is such an important part of our children's future and how he juggles life to prioritise his family and the things that are important to him.
This really was an absolute joy of an episode to record and we could have talked for hours so I absolutely know you're going to love this one!
