Jan Krist is a phenomenal artist. She's a force to be reckoned with and I am so proud to call her my mentor. I met Jan while I was at my post-diagnosis Artist Residency in the mountains of Leavenworth, WA. Today's recording occurred on the last day of a songwriter's retreat. I snagged her for a quick podcast recording and so I apologize for our energy levels in this conversation. Ha! We were both exhausted but I think that's what makes this episode so raw and real. We talked about mentorship, what it's like to be censored as an artist, how to use our art to communicate truth, and why artists have a responsibility to make our art.
