On today’s episode is army veteran Mark Smith, who almost died in a tragic firing range accident back in 2011 when he was shot seven times in his leg and shoulder.

Mark actually flatlined for a total of five minutes and had to be resuscitated with defibrillators as he lay there fighting for his life.

After the wounded leg began giving him organ failure, Mark was left with no option but to have it amputated in order to save his life.

What followed was a long period of recovery and rehabilitation and eventually he was up and able to walk and run on a prosthetic leg.

After being medically discharged from the army Mark had to find something new to do, and having lost a vast amount of weight during his time in hospital, he decided to take up bodybuilding to totally transform his appearance.

After winning various bodybuilding competitions, Mark decided to try something new and compete in strongman competitions instead.

In an incredible turn of events, he won the title of Britain’s Strongest Disabled Man at the very first time of trying - and even went on to compete in the World’s Strongest Disabled Man competition too.

Sadly, Mark has had to stop doing strongman due to the unforgiving toll it takes on the body, but incredibly is now playing professional amputee football for West Brom instead.

He has an incredible story showing that there is no barrier too great to stop you achieving what you set your mind to!
