How did the magi know to follow the star to find the King of the Jews?

This is Ken Ham, enjoying our free ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum.

The book of Matthew tells of wise men from the east worshipping the child Jesus. These men were likely important officials from Persia.

So, how did they know to follow the star to find the King of the Jews?

Well, those in the east had many opportunities to learn about the Messiah and even read the Scriptures. Think of the Jewish exile to Babylon, Daniel, and the many Jews who lived in Persia for centuries. These Persian wise men may have been familiar with prophecies about Christ, including this one, “A star shall come out of Jacob.”

Ultimately, we aren’t told exactly how they knew. But we do know God was behind these officials coming to worship the King of kings.
