Shaylah Mickens, 26, is a native of Baltimore, Maryland where she created a business named Soulful Symmetry, that allows people of color to heal from trauma. She uses Reiki Energy to heal, revive and restore her client's energy so they can be their highest true selves. She created Soulful Symmetry LLC because she understands just like many people of color in her community we all need a sacred place to be heard. Shaylah grew up on the south side of Baltimore in Cherry Hill. She experienced not only physical abuse in the household with her father but also mental as well.
Shaylah believes healing starts within and that everyone should be able to start with healing first and being able to recognize. She took her experience with sexual abuse as well as other violations to her spirit from family members and turned that into a positive platform for people of her community. She created Black Girls Speaks as a way for women of color to speak on their abuse where they are not judged. She has created sacred spaces for her sisters to unify in the same space and learn to trust each other and heal together.
