Episode 20. In this episode Ulland and Jo review attachment theory and how it can be relevant to DBT and working with emotionally reactive individuals. The Positive and Negative Realities and Fantasies are reviewed, and how they are relevant to the secondary targets fo DBT. Multiple clinical and life examples are given. Skills are necessary to move from the Shame Narrative of the Fantasies to the Positive Reality. This can only be accomplished by first moving through the Negative Reality by no longer avoiding emotions that must be experienced or grieved.
