In this week's episode...
00:30 - Happy Black History Month to everyone, especially those who ask "Why isn't there a White History Month?"
01:00 - And Happy Black Panther Month!
02:10 - What can we do for Black History Month? Learn about more black history than just MLK and Rosa Parks *coughWHITEPEOPLEcough*
04:00 - Heather has a theory about a possible candidate for Antichrist. Have you checked your Alexa for the Mark of the Beast?
07:25 - After Jeff Bezos's purchase of Whole Foods, employees are subject to abusive "scorecards" while new stocking systems leave stores with no produce.
09:30 - Amazon is also launching a real-life Black Mirror episode, plotting to outfit workers with creepy tracking devices.
11:25 - Most insidious: Amazon, along with two other major businesses, wants to "fix" healthcare with the aim of more private sector control over medicine.
14:11 - A more symbolic "Mark of the Beast": cashless transactions and automated Near Field technology will further exclude the poor and marginalized from society.
18:25 - Hey MTA: These proposed technological improvements to the subway mean jack if the trains never run on time!
19:28 - (Shout-out to #SwipeItForward)
20:30 - More corporate take-over: Immigrants rounded up by ICE are being held in for-profit prisons. Which are a source of (slave) labor for Whole Foods and Amazon.
22:30 - Was it even worth watching Trump's State of the Union? By Thursday, the White House already had a dozen new scandals taking up the news. And of course, it was riddled with lies.
24:50 - MEMOGATE. The much hyped Devin Nunes memo outing FBI "Deep State" corruption revealed nada. Meanwhile, Leftists are in the uncomfortable position of actually supporting the damn Feds.
26:15 - What are the odds on a Trump impeachment? (As long as the GOP controls congress, exactly nil! - ed.)
29:53 - The results of Dry January are in: Elsa and Heather are still sober! Elsa is back to smoking weed.
33:05 - Yes, it's that time. Time for White Fuckery of the Week! First up, Rose McGowan melts down in a Barnes & Noble with indefensible TERF remarks and general cis aggreivement. As #MeToo heroes go, Rose is not great.
37:25 - Shout-out to Andi Dier, the trans woman who called out McGowan (and is now getting slammed for it).
49:05 - Another #WFOTW: A teacher in The Bronx goes way too far in a history lesson about slavery, traumatizing her black students. This happens a couple times every year, like blue moons and Alec Baldwin spewing misogyny/homophobia in public.
58:21 - Your homework for Black History Month: learn all you can about Black History, Black Present, and Black Future. Read a damn book. Give to black organizations.
58:45 - Shout-out to BYP (Black Youth Project), a great organization for teaching the next generation to organize and lead.
