The death of a parent is usually among the most emotionally difficult of all of our human experiences. Whether the loss is unexpected or has been anticipated due to a terminal disease or old age, nothing will be the same ever after again.

It alters children – including adult children – in many different ways on both a biological and psychological level. Even if we have had time to prepare and to say goodbye before the actual death, it doesn’t lessen the grief when it actually happens. However, sometimes we can get stuck in the process and the unresolved grief can spiral into different symptoms that seem to be unrelated.
