Today, I am joined by Amber Rae, author, artist and global voice for emotional wellness and self-discovery. She turns highly relatable insights on the human experience into viral art, sold-out venues, and best-selling books. In this episode, we are putting healing into our own hands through self acceptance. We talk about how to find your purpose and why healing yourself is the most powerful thing you can do.
Loving and Accepting Myself Fully [5:00]

“My own mess became my message.”

“The questions I had asked myself like, ‘How do I please others? How do I not rock the boat?’ needed to change. I started asking, ‘What do I really want? What do I value?’.”

“The way that I process and move through my own emotions is writing about them and showing them through art. It not only helped my own healing journey, but it helped others.”

“Pain became my purpose.”

“Don’t go out and search for a purpose, go out and search for yourself.”

Connect Your Insides to Your Outside [10:00]

“Finding my purpose really started when I asked myself the right questions.”

“The practice of journaling was the gateway to my truth and gaining an understanding of myself.”

“I found my purpose by cultivating a relationship with my emotions- especially those difficult emotions.”

“Learn how to cultivate a relationship with those emotions like sadness, anger, and anxiety, to get to know your purpose on a deeper level.”

“Looking outside of ourselves is easier than having to sit with our own truth because it might be different from what we’ve been conditioned to believe is acceptable.”

Heal Yourself [20:00]

“The prompts in your book help people to put healing into their own hands.”

“Approval comes from within. Approval doesn’t come from others, approval comes from yourself.”

“Am I saying yes to something because I want others approval and love, or am I saying yes to something for self love and approval?”

“Congruency means that my internal world and external world are aligned.”

“Ask yourself, ‘Why am I really doing what I’m doing?’”

Get Rid of the “Should”[25:00]

“I became disconnected from my own work by wanting to give people what they wanted.”

“I didn’t believe in what I was creating, but because I thought it was what people wanted.”

“We can do things with ease- it doesn’t have to be a struggle. Take out the ‘should’.”

“There are no ‘experts’- we are teachers, but we are also still students.”

Listen to the Voice Inside of You [32:00]

“When we give ourselves permission to sit with the answers, we live in integrity and in alignment with our truth.”

“I’m so proud of myself for hearing my intuition speak and then acting on it.”

“There’s no such thing as one way liberation. It’s easy to hear that, but it’s hard to live that.”

“I’m not responsible for anyone else’s path, I’m just going to walk my own path.”

“Courage requires fear. We can only be courageous when fear is present.”
