When Clare’s embarrassing pack rat garbage diving father finds a broken Chinese music box to give her for her birthday, she soon discovers that it has the ability to grant wishes, making her popular at school, destroying her enemies, and forcing the boy she likes to love her back, but Clare doesn’t realize each wish comes with a terrible price: the death of someone close to her.
