It’s that time of year when business owners dream bigger than usual, vow to stay on track, and make endless promises to themselves about what they will accomplish this year when they try harder. We all know those promises don’t last.

According to a recent Forbes article about the study held by American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), researchers found that these actions have the following probabilities of completing a goal when taken:
Having an idea or goal: 10% likely to complete the goal
Consciously deciding that you will do it: 25%
Deciding when you will do it: 40%
Planning how to do it: 50%
Committing to someone that you will do it: 65%
Having a specific accountability appointment with someone you’ve committed to: 95%
