Welcome to Woman Leadership show. I'm Janet and in this episode, I will be sharing with you

You may heard about this quote by Joan Collin that that age is a number no matter what age we are at and someone recently told me that anyone who said that is usually older ones and not younger ones as we do not feel it when we were younger that we are aging. Age is just a number implies age as having no boundaries or limitations. It literally means you are never too old, age is just a number, and should not stop you doing the things that you may think you're too old to achieve or participate in.

In my 20s, an ex teacher shared with us that it was important to look after our skin and health otherwise it will show otherwise in older age. Similiarly my mum will also been nagging to me to look after everything from skin , health and the food we eat , things we use such as lipstick do not eat it and clean before we ear and many others so we will not get all the sickness when older. I heard many stories that younger ones are having diabetes, high blood pressure and passed on as early as early 20s.
In younger days, I took many things for granted that I have the youth and it seems far away that I gets older one day so I did not really take care of my skin except going for monthly facial. I seldom put on sunblock and keep my routine very simple without much care. Many used to say I am blessed with good skin especially I do not really have a routine. Now I can see the effects such as wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven tone all showing up and I regret not taking care of my skin when younger. Now I will remind my children to care for their skin especially from the sun as it can cause permanent damage which takes long time to minimize it.

In my 30s, though I was having 3 young kids below 6 years old, that’s where while iw as travelling for work but attending external programs while taking care of three young children. I have ex colleagues thinking that I was single or no children as I was very active in work events and do not come across as someone who will need to go home after work and still available to go out on Friday evenings with them. To me, I think is important to have other social activities while still ensuring I was there for my children during weekends.

In my 40s, though I am experienced but I get to learn new things which younger generation are good at such as digital marketing, technology and using ways to present dashboard as they are more tech savvy compared to me. It is important to be humble to learn and be adapatbel to learn so nto be lagging behind technology and not able to catch up eventually and left behind.

Takeaway
Look after our skin and health from young, habits start from young and later into adult life. Yes it is not too late to change once we know and start making changes to change our old habits so we can look and feel better.

It is never too late to learn whatever age we are, we may feel too old when we attend some programs but lifelong learning keep us updated and fulfilled. My grandmother continue to learn even at the age of 93 where she will learn to read English newspaper and what we teach her. I have heard of some who even use facebook at age 80 years old.

When I left my corporate job and took a break to spend time with my late mum and also to think about what would be the next step, I felt that I might be too old to start all over again should I want to do online marketing and sales and can only go back to corporate to do what I have been familiar with. I took the leap of faith and courage to be humble and learn as much as I can and not afraid to be laughed at for not knowing.
I learned from my children too everyday and learn from them .
I hope that through my sharing, it draws inspiration and personal reflection for you. I believe every woman can be a leader in your own way. I look forward to seeing you in my next episode where I will be sharing with you tips and ways to realize your full potential as a leader on Woman Leadership.
