The #2 Key to Success – Wisdom Unplugged

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is https://wisdom-trek.com/day-1230/ (Day 1230) of our trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from Richard DeVos, and it is, “If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence.”

The #2 Key to Success

https://wisdom-trek.com/day-1225/ (Last week) on our Wisdom Unplugged segment, we expressed the #1 key to success was self-discipline, for without it success cannot be achieved. We are expanding on that concept this week to another key to success, which is persistence. These character traits are actually two sides of the same coin. You absolutely must have self-discipline to achieve anything worthwhile in life, but along the same lines, if you do not persistently pursue your goal, then you will not move very far along your path towards success.  For any desire or goal in life, you have to be dedicated enough to continue on even when it is difficult.

To be persistent means the firm or obstinate continuance in the course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. Self-discipline, coupled with persistence will result in an all-consuming vision. Self-disciplined and persistent people have a goal or vision in mind that motivates and drives them. It creates a burning desire, inner confidence, highly developed habits, the ability to adjust and adapt, and commitment to lifelong learning, and allows a person to become a role model who acts as  guide and mentor to others.Growing up on a farm taught me a lot of lessons in life. Self-discipline and persistence were certainly two lessons. Patience and endurance, which is the same as persistence, are results of this. As we are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+5:7&version=NLT (James 5:7,) “Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.”

That’s a wrap for today’s Wisdom Unplugged quote. If you would like free access to my database of over 11,000 inspirational quotes, the link is available on the main page of https://wisdom-trek.com (Wisdom-Trek.com).
