The great poet Mary Oliver said, "To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work." SAY THAT MARY. We are living in a world where the demand for our attention is high, and to lift our eyes to the world around us is challenging.

We are people of hope, and part of holding on to hope is looking hard for the helpers (thanks for that pro-tip Mr. Rogers). Who is operating in the power of the ordinary, and how can we see that, and be that, in this world? Today's show tackles bystander intervention, a person willing to intervene when a situation requires intervention. We provide practical tools, tell stories (like the nurse in Beirut, who cradled three newborn babies after the blast, saving their lives), and offer ways that you can begin to pay attention in your spheres of influence. No special personality type required, just an extra dose of awareness and courage.

We love you listeners. These days are difficult, but we're holding on to hope, praying for you, and standing in solidarity that we can and will make this world a better place for us and for the future.

Do you love Why Tho? We'd love you to do two things: Rate or review the show, and share this podcast with a friend!
