Polarization, villainization, and manipulation. Three big things we are helping you avoid in 2020. With the internet pastoring us due to the hours of our life we give to it, people are becoming increasingly settled in their camps and echo chambers. That leads us to polarizing narratives about others that are at minimum, not helpful, and often harmful. It becomes easy to make villains out of people we don't agree with, or even those who have hurt us, but in the words of Father Greg Boyle, "God doesn't have enemies. God only has children."

We have to journey from the opposite ends toward the middle to a common place where we honor the image of God in the people we meet. (And yes, stay safe! Some people cannot be in our lives! They are too toxic!) Manipulation has a place in this too, and while adults may not go full on "mean girl," people who push past boundaries constantly drain us and have a "me first" agenda in everything they do. Their ways need to be recognized and dealt with so we can prioritize life giving relationships. We've got tips and strategies to help you do just that!
