It is now common knowledge that there are various types of trauma and various sources of PTSD or Developmental Trauma Disorder (DTD). Childhood trauma/War trauma/Isolated traumatic event (car accident, witnessing death/shooting, violent crime, etc.)

About 7.7 million Americans 18+ suffer from PTSD and about 3 million children.

Because trauma affects the body physically, a bottom up treatment is a more effective approach to  PTSD and trauma. A carefully designed trauma sensitive yoga therapy session can provide a safe environment for someone who is traumatized/ has heightened sympathetic response. By experiencing bodily sensations and learning to release tension,  one can begin to cultivate new response patterns.

Today, the ladies finish their series on stress and disease by discussing the role of trauma and PTSD on the whole person, and how embodied treatment modalities influence treatment.
