Covering Black History Responsibly, iLiv, Mulitgen Housing , and AI's Impact on Employment

Black History Month begins in a few days and with that we know there will be a rush to book interviews and keynotes with black leaders across Canada on a variety of topics. Knowing this, there needs to be an awareness that we are portraying and sharing black history and stories responsibly. Selam Debs is an antiracism educator, and anti-oppression coach. She joins me today with some advice for organizations and institutions as we head into February so that coverage is ethical instead of performative.

Life for women in 2023 is chaotic. Between work and home, our mental and physical health, plus the never-ending barrage of information we must wade through, it can often feel like we’re not moving ahead and it can and does affect our productivity. As the housing crisis worsens many are looking at ways to alleviate the burden and that includes multigenerational living. Kate Choi, an Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology at Western University joins me to share her insights on this growing trend that has benefits for kids living with grandparents, how it helps single parent households, plus a few of the downsides of this arrangement.

Finally, the one and only Amber Mac joins me to discuss artificial intelligence and how it’s creating a critical skills gap in our country. We also discuss how prepared Canada is for this new reality, what employment will look for us in the future, and how we should be preparing ourselves for the AI revolution.
