We, As Citizens: Because Conversation Matters

18 episodes - English - Latest episode: almost 3 years ago - ★★★★★ - 4 ratings

We all have more in common than we think. And that is why this show is about conversations.

I'm talking with people that I agree with and some that I might not entirely agree with. Hopefully, you won't be able to tell who's who.

Conversations with people who are probably more like us than not. I'm not here to feed the 'cancel culture.' We all know what that is and I hope you'll come away with new found knowledge from some of my guests.

We are more than our bank accounts, education, the color of our skin, where we were born, who we pray to, and who we love.

We all have more in common than we think.

We must learn to talk with one another about mental illness. Marissa F. Cohen is a best selling author, speaker and advocate. The roots of this success came as a 19-year-old outgoing, bubbly college freshman with a caring boyfriend; until he wasn't. She tells me, "he started out so thoughtful and charming, I didn't really see the quick progression to abusive and manipulative and controlling. ...I didn't know that the things he was doing and saying were, were wrong because we never learned about it." Her recovery did not fully start until almost a ...

Frannie Foltz

February 22, 2021 19:03 - 49 minutes - 45.6 MB

At first glance, Frannie Foltz is the picture of health and a perfect life with a big personality. It hasn't always been true for her. Years ago, as a 20-something, Frannie graduated college and moved to Florida for her first teaching position. There she joined a gym, and her trainer had what I call a "Come to Jesus" talk with her. Pointing out that she needed to change her ways because, " ...if you were to gain just one pound every month, every month for the next five years, You'll be close...

Douglas Laux

January 19, 2021 11:30 - 1 hour - 66.9 MB

So, why did I invite Douglas Laux for a conversation? Because talking to a CIA case officer is not something that we knowingly do unless it is someone like Douglas Laux, who has written a book about his career. Like most of us, I’ve seen emotional reactions regarding the subject of the CIA. For quite some time, a few books and movies were my only knowledge of the Central Intelligence Agency. I wanted to have a conversation with a person who was once part of the agency.

Simon Jordan

January 19, 2021 11:00 - 42 minutes - 38.8 MB

Simon Jordan has accomplished much in his life. I wanted to talk to him about his environmental works.  Yet, to call him simply an environmentalist would be missing much of who he is. He exemplifies a deep-rooted understanding of following his purpose in life, illustrated through his gratitude practice and finding flow. We also talked about how he seemingly can achieve anything he sets his mind.
