For many years Desiree Manders has been well-known as Desray in Dutch music. After winning the popular TV talent show “Soundmixshow” at age 18, she was given a lucrative singing deal. Real fame came when she joined 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, The Europop hit machine that found worldwide success and provides her with an ongoing gig to this day. Desiree still considers working with 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor ia treat. “Nineties parties still draw a huge audience, and there’s always a great atmosphere. As long as the people like it and we like it, we’ll keep going. But that is not my future anymore. I can do more than sing old dance tunes. I also want to create new songs in the studio and perform with my band. The flow that is generated by a live band is magic. That’s the reason why I decided to start looking for a new musical direction, a style of my own that would give me new energy."

You will have an extra treat this episode of Walk Talk Listen as Desiree shared her new song "Be The Change" with us. You will hear her talk about a number of challenges she had to face in the last couple of years, but also shares why it’s important to bring positive thoughts into the world with her lyrics. "I don’t write and sing from anger, but from love.”

I just finished participating in the Ration Challenge which means I ate the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan, based on food packs distributed by the Ration Challenge's local partner organization. By raising money, we'll help bring emergency food, hygiene kits and life-saving support to the people that need it most. It would be great if you can support me or the WALK TALK Listen team by donating by going to the Walk Talk Listen Ration Challenge page or please share the link with your network.
