Your muscles are a form of endocrine gland that secret hormones when exercised.  This isn't just a scientific discovery but a trippy one.  Consider that movement is the very way by which we imprint our will, intentions and consciousness into the tissues of our body.  In return we get anti-depressant, anti-anxiety benefits, the 600+ chemicals released by the muscles during and after 30-60 minutes of sustained exercise communicate to the brain and improve hippocampus capacity for memory and learning.  Or something like that.
