On today’s episode, I had such an incredible conversation with these two gems Gio Petrucci and Renée Meloche who are the hosts of the podcast listen 2 me. ⁣

We talked about topics like originality expectations, how social media can change our perspective on what validation actually means, we also discussed the importance of diverse representation in success stories and how this is related to imposter syndrome & so many interesting and important topics that just blew my mind. ⁣

If you are looking for food for thought, this is the episode you’ve been waiting for. ⁣

Gio is the founder of GIOGRAFIK, a boutique creative studio specializing in branding and design. From developing socially-conscious campaigns to partnerships with an international clientele, Gio uses his platform to create informed, conscious design. See his work at giografik.com or on Instagram @giografik.⁣

Renée Meloche (she/he/them) is a queer writer spinning short stories, poetry, and essays out of the wintry Alberta air. She lives with her husband and two adorable (if exacting) corgis. You can find more of their work online at reneewrought.com or on social media @reneewrought. ⁣

Here are the takeaways:⁣

1- If you want to remove distraction from your day and keep your creative flow going keep your phone out of the room and practice mindfulness⁣

2- Remember that validation should come from within first⁣

3- If you know that you’re benefitting from a system that’s advancing your progress over other people you have the responsibility to speak up⁣

4- Look at your own bias to help other people⁣

5- Don’t let society models determine your value or success⁣

6- You are not your thoughts and you always have a choice⁣

7- There’s no such thing as pure originality, everything comes from something that already exists, and it’s derived from someone’s authenticity, privilege and their position in society.⁣

8- Focus on the person who makes the magic happen instead of just focusing on the work itself, give yourself the credit you so deserve⁣

9- Trust your intuition, what you create is valuable, take yourself seriously⁣

10- Give yourself the validation that you need⁣
