Is it possible to heal from emotional abuse?

On this episode Catarina talks about her own experience as a survivor of an emotionally and psychologically abusive relationship.

Here are some steps to take when dealing with an abusive partner:

1 - Find emotional and professional support.

2 - Educate yourself.

 * Books that helped me through this journey

  - The book my former therapist recommended is called Psycopath Free, by Jackson MacKenzie

3  - Hold on to whatever reason you have and leave before you get manipulated again.

4 - Use the "No Contact" Method, eliminate any type of connection you may have with the toxic person.

5 - Be aware after experiencing emotional, physical and/or psychological abuse you might experience PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), that's why is important to seek professional help and keep working on your healing.

6 - Remember your healing journey will not be linear. You will experience ups and downs, but you will certainly not be back to square 0. That is impossible once you learned what you did so far.

7 - Don't let other peoples' perspective blind yours. What you have gone through is valid  and no one can say otherwise.

8 - Surround yourself with supportive people and don't be afraid to cut ties with toxic and unsupportive ones.
