Yes, she was quite the accomplished professional educator, and her reasons for therapy had nothing to do with childhood trauma. But the cover stories she had created about her childhood unraveled, and the ugly traumas hidden beneath were revealed. 

Jayne is a nationally known trauma-informed author and advocate, retired educator, and board president for the Attachment & Trauma Network. Today she shares about her story and her new book Trauma In The Pews.

Bio: Janyne McConnaughey, Ph.D., nationally known trauma-informed author & advocate builds on a career in education. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, she authored the Brave Series, three psychoeducational memoirs. Her most recent book, Trauma in the Pews: The Impact on Faith and Spiritual Practices provides a paradigm shift for churches and ministry leaders. She is Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tabor College (Masters in Education: Neuroscience & Trauma) and board president for the Attachment & Trauma Network (ATN). Janyne, her husband Scott, and rescue dog Weber live south of Seattle and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
