In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, I have an open discussion with my friend Kate about sustainability, carbon footprints and what we can each do NOW to help our earth heal.
About featured guest:
Kate has been working in the sustainability field for about six years. During this time, Kate helped Virginia Mason Memorial implement their EnvrioMason Sustainability Program covering initiatives around Healthier Food in Healthcare, Leaner Energy, Less Waste, Safer Chemicals, Less Water use, environmental preferable purchasing, alternative transportation and lowering VMM’s overall carbon footprint. This helped Memorial establish some best practices and national environmental awards for their efforts and impact. Leaving Memorial, Kate founded Northwest Sustainability and Wellbeing, and helped Tree Top initiate their Creating Shared Value; Corporate Social Responsibility program. Kate’s degrees in Public and Community Health drives her passion for environmental sustainability and environmental change to influence behavior change. “Now that I am a mother, going to work every day has a new meaning, I am determined to help minimize our footprint for the next generation.” Kate hopes that she can influence others through education and outreach to drive policy and guidelines for organizational change to help the environment. In Kate’s free time she enjoys spending time with her family in the outdoors and planning new adventures and experiences.
