Privilege (specifically white privilege) heavily influences underrepresented groups and their ability to access healthy food and certain lifestyles. We acknowledge that in this episode we were speaking from what we have learned and our own experiences (1. Hispanic, cis, hetero male and  2. White, cis, hetero female). While we may educate ourselves about the experiences of others, we cannot fully know. Additionally, the job of educating ourselves is never done and there is always more to learn. We do not want this episode to seem like a plug for anything financial in reference to Black History Month- as is so often done in consumer commercials- but rather, we wanted to talk about white privilege and healthy living through our lenses at a time when people might be paying more attention to these issues (ie during Black History Month). No money was made or will be made off of this episode; employing, manipulating, and weaponizing the trauma and oppression of others for personal profit is something that we do not stand for.
