I used to think my body was simply a machine, and you just need to hit a few buttons to lose weight...

 

Hit the button for increasing calories burned by moving your booty; hit the button for decreasing calories in your pie hole.

 

AKA Calories In vs. Calories Out.

 

CICO is a law, and it is true. BUT our bodies are more like complex computers… there’s more to our programming than meets the eye.

 

To lose weight we need to dial in 3 things: Your diet - specifically how much calories you consume, your activity level - how much you move around each day to burn calories, and the 3rd piece of the weight loss puzzle is the one that most doctors, nutritionists, trainers, and people miss… 

 

The metabolism.

 

And I’m not talking about that thing that you believe you are born with and can’t change.

 

When people go on a diet or start an exercise program and they have #1 and #2 in place, but they don’t lose any weight, or maybe it moves a bit at first but then stalls out fast… this is often due to today's topic: metabolic damage.

 

We'll discuss who metabolic damage affects the most, signs and symptoms of metabolic damage, take you back in time to my middle school days for a useful analogy, and more!
