Unsettling Knowledge #13: Refugees in Netherlands: InclUUsion Stories – Part 1

Every year, thousands of refugees seek asylum in The Netherlands as they are forced to flee their own country. These experiences are difficult, emotional, personal, and unique to the individual. This episode series aims to shed light on the personal stories of relocating and settling into the Netherlands, as told by individuals from Utrecht’s InclUUsion program.

In this episode Malina Yallanki speaks with our guest Afra who has relocated to the Netherlands. They discuss the experience of her relocating, the challenges faced along her journey, and her wishes for the future. We invite you to listen and learn.

Seeking asylum is just one step in the process in the challenging and often traumatic relocation process. In this powerful set of personal interviews we learn about the many other hurdles in that process. We hear directly from newcomers about their experiences of despair, resilience and their suggestions for a better process.

This series takes an intimate look at the experience of seeking asylum in the Netherlands. We offer it in hopes that we can strengthen and build communities of support as our fellow residents seek inclUUSion and success.
