The Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought together leaders and communities from across the globe to take unprecedented action. With some labelling the invasion as the “beginning of World War III,” the attack poses a challenge to the stability of the international structure and with it, the lives of Ukrainian residents.

In this episode, Dr. Rachel Gillett speaks to Maria Shepel, a Ukrainian living in the Netherlands, who shares her personal thoughts on the crisis and how the invasion has impacted Ukrainian people.

Note: Maria would like to add that media coverage has sometimes shown a warped image of Ukraine, liking it to a third world country. When actually the loss of Ukrainian exports, such as sunflower oil and flour, has impacted other countries.
