Half of Gen Z and Millennials self identify as BIPOC, which makes them much more diverse than previous generations. As a result, these generations’ attitudes and expectations about representation and inclusion are critical for brands looking to engage with these consumers. YPulse, the leading authority on GenZ and Millennial opinions and behaviors, has recently released a trend report on how young consumers’ feel about representation and inclusion, from the impact inclusivity has on their buying choices to their expectations concerning brand behavior.

In this podcast MaryLeigh Bliss, VP of content at YPulse, dives into what their research can tell us about how young consumers are feeling and what that means for brands.

Topics include:

How the racial make up of the US has changed over the past few generations.
Some of the brands increasing engagement through greater racial inclusion.
How young consumers feel brands are doing with regard to representing BIPOC consumers.
What young consumers are saying about racial recasting.
How brands built on racial stereotypes can successfully navigate an update.
What real representation means to young consumers.

As of VP of Content, MaryLeigh Bliss oversees YPulse’s syndicated products. Her role also involves acting as a culture and youth insights expert, consulting with brands to identify actionable insights, align young consumer strategy, and layer generational and youth knowledge over data findings.
