User generated content (UGC) helps brands engage and connect with consumers. Authenticity is important to young consumers and, as a result, many of them find UGC content more influential than highly produced advertising campaigns. UGC is a cost effective way to reach audiences with an unprecedented level of sincerity. 


Today we’re speaking with Jonathan Skogmo, founder of Jukin Media, a digital-first media company powered by user-generated video content. He is now the Chief Innovation Officer at Trusted Media Brands, which acquired Jukin Media in 2021.

Jonathan Skogmo is Chief Innovation Officer at Trusted Media Brands. Skogmo founded Jukin Media, a digital-first media company powered by user-generated video content, which was acquired by Trusted Media Brands in 2021; at the time of the acquisition, under Skogmo’s leadership, Jukin had grown to nearly 250 employees with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, and New Delhi.


In August 2021, 12 years after Skogmo founded Jukin, the company was acquired by Trusted Media Brands. Today Skogmo serves as Chief Innovation Officer of Trusted Media Brands, where he continues to make an impact across the organization and helps drive the growth of the overall business. 


Skogmo has been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s Next-Gen 35 Under 35 list, the Cynopsis “Digital It” list, and the Multichannel News 40 Under 40 list; he was a finalist in the 2019 EY Entrepreneur of the Year program for the Greater Los Angeles region.


A member of the Producers Guild of America (and co-chair of the Online Video Committee), Skogmo has executive produced hundreds of hours of programming for networks such as A&E, Facebook Watch, FOX, MTV, Discovery, TruTV, and Channel 5 (UK).


Skogmo’s industry affiliations also include The Young Presidents’ Organization (Malibu Chapter) and the Association of Media Content Users and Providers. He holds a degree in Film and Television from Columbia College. He resides in Los Angeles.
