This week, I’m joined by Giovanna (Gio) Milano, a food blogger and amateur chef with a passion for cooking that stemmed from her experiences growing up around her family’s home-grown Italian restaurant. Sitting on the border of Mexico in South Texas, Milano’s Italian Restaurant was started in 1955 by Gio’s great grandparents, Emidio Milano and Lisetta Berardinelli. Sit down with me as I talk with Gio about how her Nona’s passion for selling pizzas out of their kitchen turned into a full-blown family restaurant that now serves as a landmark in the Rio Grande Valley, and how mixing Italian and Mexican cuisine has become integral in her family’s culture.
